No. There are no Nespresso capsules compatible with Dolce Gusto. It is an urban legend and also a question asked by many inexperienced users or those just starting in the world of capsule coffee machines.
Nespresso capsules are not compatible with Dolce Gusto. And you cannot use Nespresso in Dolce Gusto. Both brands belong to the Nestlé company, and this is the primary source of confusion that leads users to believe that Nespresso capsules are compatible with Dolce Gusto. And nothing could be further from the truth. These are different product lines, with different coffee makers, and of course with totally different capsules.
To clear up your doubts and understand why the Nespresso capsules are not compatible with Dolce Gusto, we are going to show you what shape both types of capsules have:
Are Dolce gusto and Nespresso capsules the same? No. You only have to look at the pictures to see that.
As you can see, the Nespresso capsules are smaller than the Dolce Gusto capsules, and there are also other models of Nespresso capsules (of the same size) which have a striped pattern on their plastic shell. It is impossible to find Nespresso capsules that are compatible with Dolce Gusto. If you insert a Nespresso capsule into a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, the machine will not even be able to prick it to inject the water under pressure. The compartment of a coffee machine is not designed to hold capsules of any other format. It simply won’t work.
If, after learning that there are no Dolce Gusto compatible Nespresso capsules, you want to continue looking for alternatives for your coffee machine, we advise you to review our articles about compatible Dolce Gusto capsules or how to refill Dolce Gusto capsules.
An alternative way is to buy a multi-capsule coffee machine, which is compatible not only with Dolce Gusto and Nespresso capsules but also with private label ESE pods (even with ground coffee!).
