Wooden Tea Storage Boxes

Tea boxes are a must-have accessory if you often consume tea at home and have many different varieties of tea to choose from. They could be considered the equivalent of capsule organisers in the field of coffee machines.

They serve not only to store the tea sachets (or any other infusion) but above all to keep them tidy and in sight in the event that you consume different varieties. The worst thing that can happen in these cases is to have them all mixed up in a drawer or in a jar: in the end, you will never find the one you are looking for, and the worst thing is that you will not realise when you have run out of one or is about to run out. With a good tea organiser box, you’ll solve all these problems in one fell swoop.

Tea storage boxes are usually made of wood; we are going to focus on this material because it is the best quality, but there are also cheaper models made of plastic.

They consist of a series of grid compartments (usually six or nine, arranged in rows of 2×3 or 3×3 spaces). You can find them in almost any bazaar or gift shop, and of course, you can also buy your tea boxes on Amazon.

What is a wooden box for storing tea?

As with everything else, when it comes to buying a box to store tea bags, we can find several types of products depending on the needs we have.

The simplest tea boxes have a single simple compartment, divided into precise grids. As we said before, there are various sizes, but it is normal to find them with six or nine compartments.

At the other extreme, we find really complex wooden tea boxes. There are many variants, but in this section, we will give you an overview of the most interesting functions:

  • Interchangeable wooden dividers (not fixed) to be able to divide the inside of the box into the compartments we want.
  • Boxes with unequal spaces to be able to store many sachets of a certain variety (for example, our favourite, the one we have the most) and a small number of sachets of another type.
  • The most complete tea boxes even come with a small drawer under the main display to store other tea utensils.
  • Tea boxes with glass lids (not opaque) so that you can see the envelopes without having to open it.

Tea boxes with glass lids

Tea boxes with glass lids are much more common and numerous on the market than tea boxes with plain lids. As it is logical, they are much more practical because they allow us to know which varieties we have and how many sachets we have left of each type, without the need to open them.

Tea boxes with built-in drawer

These boxes come in various types and sizes, but they all have a common denominator: they have a small extra drawer, usually at the bottom of the box, which can be used to store more tea bags, or (in most cases) other accessories that we use to prepare tea and that we don’t know where else to store.

In our opinion, these boxes for tea bags with drawers are a perfect gift for a friend or family member who is an unconditional tea lover. If you have to give a gift, make it a good one with all the advantages possible.

White wooden tea boxes

White tea boxes are still made of wood in almost all cases, but as they are painted or lacquered in white, they have a different touch from the classic natural wood ones. They keep, however, the rustic or vintage look that their owners like so much, so you don’t need to worry about that detail. Just choose the colour you like the most or the one that best suits the decoration of your room.

Decorated tea boxes

Decorated tea boxes are made of wood, just like the others, but instead of having a bare wooden casing, they are decorated with an ornamental motif. The decorations are usually black signs with a commercial, industrial or vintage touch, which enhance their rustic approach.

As you can see in this gallery, decorated tea boxes are not much more expensive than the more basic models.
