Users of some of the most popular capsule systems are used to enjoying Nespresso-compatible capsules, Dolce Gusto-compatible capsules or Lavazza-compatible capsules. However, this is not the case with Tassimo. As of today, there are no capsules compatible with Tassimo Bosch.
The reason is that Tassimo does not use capsules as such, but T-Discs with a bar code. And for the layman, let’s explain it a bit more slowly:
Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, Illy or Lavazza; all these capsule systems work similarly: each one makes and recognises capsules of a specific shape and size. That’s why the single doses in one coffee maker don’t work in another.
However, this allows other manufacturers (once the patents are released) to manufacture and market capsules precisely like the original ones.
Tassimo single-dose capsules, on the other hand, are recognised by a barcode system, which Tassimo coffee machines interpret with their scanner. Bosch calls it Intellibrew.
These barcodes can only be used by Tassimo, as they have unique and particular characteristics. Even if identical capsules are manufactured, the coffee machine will not read them without the correct barcode.
Is this of interest to Bosch (or Tassimo)? Well, It depends on how you look at it. The brand is much more closed, but this also guarantees its consumers a level of quality that no one can imitate or cheapen with hypothetical Tassimo compatible capsules.
It is why you will never be able to find (although many people are still looking for) Tassimo compatible capsules in any of the usual supermarkets. Mission impossible.
There are no Tassimo capsules compatible with Dolce Gusto either, nor vice versa, or with any other system. Tassimo capsules are not compatible with Senseo either because the barcode system is exclusive to Bosch.

How to reuse Tassimo capsules
Of course, with the number of users that have this brand, some already try to go ahead of the established limits. It is relatively simple to cut or reuse the barcode of a T-Disc that we have already consumed and paste it or place it on top of a new capsule so that the coffee maker can read it.
It works, but of course, only with another T-Disc capsule from Tassimo. If someone wanted to make a Tassimo capsule compatible, even if they didn’t know the original Tassimo barcodes, they could use this trick, and the coffee maker would read them. But it wouldn’t be legal or lawful. But for the record, between two different T-Discs, this works, and it can be done.
On the other hand, there is the everlasting trick of refilling Tassimo capsules. There are dozens of videos on Youtube that show you how to do it, although here, each one must evaluate if it compensates the work (it is something difficult) at the cost of saving a few cents for each capsule.
We think that to get into this mess of reusing Tassimo capsules, it makes more sense to use an espresso machine and make your coffee the traditional way, with the mixture you want. You can find more information in this article: refilling Tassimo capsules.
