  • 2 espressos (about half a cup of coffee)
  • A cup and a half of cold milk.
  • 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar (for the milk)
  • Vanilla ice cream, of the brand you like, but only vanilla.

How to prepare iced coffee (step by step)

To start making the homemade iced coffee, the first thing to do is to prepare the espressos and mix them with the cold milk and sugar. You can make the espresso the way you like it or the way you normally make it at home (black coffee, as it is also known), but the better the coffee, the better the result you will get in this recipe.

Correct the sugar espressos, and put them in the fridge. Then it’s time to take the vanilla ice cream out of the freezer. It’s just to soften it a bit during the short minutes it will take to prepare the iced coffee, so that it is easier to drink.

The next step is to whip the cream. You can do it by hand or with an electric hand mixer, as you prefer.

When you start to form little waves in the cream (it will take about 2 or 3 minutes), it is time to add the spoonful of sugar you have reserved for the cream, and continue beating until the whipped cream (because what you are preparing is nothing more than a whipped cream) is very consistent.

TIP: whipped cream will look better if the instruments you use are very, very cold. You can put the container and the blades of the mixer in the fridge or freezer a little earlier so that they are very cold.

When serving your iced coffee, we recommend using a glass or a tall cup. The first thing you should pour in is the vanilla ice cream (which, if you pay attention to us above, will not be hard but slightly wasted). The ideal proportion is that you fill a third of the glass with the vanilla ice cream.

You’re about to finish your easy-to-prepare iced coffee at home. All you have to do is add the milk with cold coffee to almost the rim of the glass. As a reference, you can leave about an inch up to the rim. This is where you will pour the whipped cream to top off your iced coffee, and it’s ready! When you have this mixture ready and the coffee is cold. Put everything in the blender and mix it well: the coffee, the coconut cream, together with the vanilla and the sugar, for one minute. You can observe the final result and blend or crush everything for a few more seconds, if you see it necessary. This depends on the taste.

Now you just have to put the ice in a glass (also, amount to taste) and serve the coffee cold. We advise you not to drink it immediately, but to wait 30-60 seconds for the iced coffee to cool down completely.

  • 1.5 litre of powdered skimmed milk.
  • Coffee to your liking (can be with non-caffeinated coffee as well).

  • Vanilla essence, to flavour.

The first step is to dissolve the coffee in the skimmed milk, and then add a few drops of vanilla essence and the liquid sweetener to your taste. Now, we have to mix all the ingredients together, so that we get a unified, homogeneous mass.

Now it’s time to prepare the glasses to serve the light iced coffee mixture. Take each glass (ideally a normal glass of water, about 250ml), and pour in a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Once we have done this we only have to serve the coffee inside the glass and we will appreciate the delight we have created very low in calories.

This light iced coffee recipe is very tasty and the truth is that its caloric contribution is very reduced: it only has approximately 130 calories per portion (it depends on the ice-cream you choose, of course).
