Preparation of the coffee carlota cake

Do you know how to make a coffee carlota? Well, there is no complication: if you know how to make the homemade tiramisu, you will also know how to make the coffee Carlota because the philosophy is similar.

The difference is that the tiramisu is made with cake dough, and the coffee Carlota is made with cookies. But the assembly layer by layer and the idea of getting it drunk with a coffee solution is shared by both desserts. Anyway, let’s get down to business:

To make the coffee Carlota, we will begin by dissolving our soluble coffee in a spoonful of water, while in two spoonfuls of cold water, we leave the gelatin hydrated.

With a hand mixer with a manual wire whisk, we beat the butter together with the yolks, the condensed milk, the coffee and the vanilla. Mix well until these ingredients are completely incorporated. The mixture should be soft and homogeneous because it is the one that will give consistency to our coffee Carlota cake.

Next, to our mixture of butter, yolks, condensed milk, coffee and vanilla, we will add the previously hydrated gelatin. Stir everything well and set it aside. The more you mix, the better.

We continue: in a mould (refractory or detachable), we grease very well the base and the sides. To achieve an ideal texture for your homemade coffee Carlota, you should cover the bottom with the cookies and seal that layer with the previously prepared coffee cream. Continue with each layer of cookie, another layer of cream and so on until we finish with the last layer of coffee cream.

Let the coffee Carlota rest in the refrigerator for a minimum of 3-4 hours so that it can set well, but we recommend that you leave it overnight. After this time, you can remove the mould and decorate.

As far as decoration is concerned, there are a thousand and one ways to decorate your coffee Carlota, from chocolate shavings to chocolate syrup, simple chocolate coating with whipped cream or simply sprinkling cocoa on top, whichever you like!

As you may have read, in this preparation of coffee Carlota does not need to have an oven to cook it, which makes it an easy dessert, simple to prepare. It is perfect for you because you will only need your refrigerator.

In the second variation of elaboration of the coffee Carlota, we raise the tone of flavour and experiences with the sweet-bitter touch of the liquor. It is the spoiled girl of the meetings of your co-workers or of your acquaintances in that afternoon where our body demands a sweet.

As you can see, the ingredients are practically the same, but we add the coffee liqueur to give it that chiselled touch.

Decaffeinated coffee carlota recipe

To finish our catwalk of these gourmet pastry beauties, the third and last option is perfect for people who do not tolerate caffeine or for the little ones in our house.

And this step-by-step recipe of caffeine-free coffee Carlota is what you are looking for, and today in the coffee recipe section, she brings it to your table. It is very easy to prepare, and the flavour is the same as the one prepared with coffee with caffeine.

Ingredients of decaffeinated coffee carlota

Time: 20 min approximately.

  • 500 ml. of whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons of decaffeinated soluble coffee
  • 6 tablespoons of hot water
  • 1 teaspoon of essence or vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons of gelatin powder
  • 6 tablespoons of cold water
  • 1/2 cup of cold decaffeinated coffee
  • 1 1/2 packages of maria cookies
  • Milk chocolate shavings (optional)

Elaboration of the decaffeinated coffee carlota

First, you must mix the three tablespoons of coffee with the six tablespoons of hot water. Let the mixture cool down completely. Hydrate the gelatin powder in the six spoonfuls of cold water, let it rest for 10 minutes and then melt everything inside your microwave.

Next, you must assemble the cream to whip (To easily assemble the cream, we advise you to have all your implements cooled in the refrigerator: ingredients, tools and containers since this speeds up the preparation of the cream). When the cream is almost ready, add the vanilla essence and the coffee dissolved in the water you prepared at the beginning.

Now comes an important step: without stopping beating everything, add the condensed milk and also the gelatin powder, very slowly, in the form of a thread or small trickle over the mixture. When it is all beaten and well mixed, let it rest.

Let’s finish: take your dish or dessert mould, place the cookies previously submerged in the cold coffee at the base of it. Soak them well, but don’t let them get white. And just like the two previous coffee Carlota recipes, pour in a little of the coffee mixture, spread it out so that it covers all the cookies evenly and place another layer of cookies on top. That is to say as if it were a lasagna.

Keep it the same way until you cover the last layer of cookies, and finally put your coffee Carlota cake in the refrigerator, at least for a couple of hours or until you serve it at the table.

This last step is important so that the coffee Carlota dessert is well integrated and homogeneous (so that it doesn’t crumble when you cut the portions, for example). It is also essential to take the coffee Carlota cold so that it does not lose its charm.

In short: the homemade coffee Carlota is a fast and very rich dessert that if you are a real #coffeeelovers, you have to have in your recipe book. And you know what? One of the best things about this coffee Carlota dessert is that you don’t need the oven to prepare it – faster and less hassle in the kitchen!
