Amaretto Coffee

Amaretto is an Italian liqueur whose origins date back to the 16th century in the small town of Saronno, near Milan, which gives its name to this drink.

In combination with coffee, we get an incredible infusion that is worth enjoying. We know it as the delicious Amaretto coffee, known and tested in several countries, although of course it is in Italy where it is drunk more (usually after dinner). Many people confuse it with Irish coffee (although it has nothing to do with it, except that it is a mixture of coffee and liquor).

Have you ever tried coffee with amaretto? Would you like to know how to make it? Well, it’s nothing complicated, but first of all you need to know the recipe for traditional amaretto coffee. Let’s go to it:

Ingredients of amaretto coffee

Prepared from almonds, amaretto liqueur becomes an extremely attractive drink when combined with the taste of coffee. It is important to bear in mind that the following recipe for amaretto coffee is really simple to make, but you should make sure you have a small bottle of amaretto at home.

These are the quantities needed to make amaretto coffee for two people:

  • 4 tablespoons of cream.
  • 2 tablespoons of amaretto.
  • 2 cups of ready-made coffee.
  • 4 spoonfuls of sugar.

How to make amaretto coffee, step by step

To start this preparation it is important to first make your espresso from a professional machine, if possible. Otherwise you can make it by hand or with the coffee maker you normally have at home, but we suggest you make it strong.

IMPORTANT: the amaretto coffee recipe is best made with espresso, not filter coffee or any other kind of preparation.

This is the first step in making a tasty amaretto coffee with your hands. You can now continue with the second step. You should whip the cream for about 5 minutes until it thickens a little. Beat as much as necessary until you are happy with the consistency of the cream.

You can then serve the Amaretto in a glass or bowl. Place the sugar and coffee inside the glass. Now start mixing gently until the sugar has dissolved completely.

You are almost ready! All you have to do is cover it with a layer of whipped cream. If you wish, you can heat the well before making the mixture to ensure that the coffee stays as hot as possible.  But this, of course, is optional. Now you have a delicious amaretto coffee to enjoy.

Here is a recipe similar to ours.

Alcohol-free amaretto coffee

Is it possible to make amaretto coffee without alcohol? Yes, but instead of using the conventional amaretto liqueur in the recipe, use an amaretto-flavoured syrup. It’s not exactly the same (depends on the quality of the syrup) but if you can’t drink alcohol it’s a good solution not to run out of your amaretto coffee after lunch.

Almond and amaretto coffee

This alternative amaretto coffee recipe is a real treat for coffee lovers. An excellent preparation of almond coffee with amaretto and integrated almond flakes. It’s a very simple variant of the above recipe, which will give you a completely different taste and will only take 10 minutes to prepare – ideal for surprising your guests!

Ingredients for preparing almond and amaretto coffee

  • 1 cup of almond milk.
  • 1 cup of espresso coffee.
  • slices of almonds.
  • 3 spoonfuls of sugar.

Prepare almond and amaretto coffee step by step

Once again, the first thing you should do is to prepare the espresso in a machine if possible and if you can’t do it by hand. Always remember that this is your own preparation of almond and amaretto coffee, so we recommend that you follow the type of preparation that is most common for making coffee. According to your taste and making it more or less loaded, depending on what you want.

You can already serve the coffee in two cups whenever you want and add the sugar also according to your taste. Once the coffee has been sweetened, the amaretto liqueur should be warmed up slightly and is ready to be added to the coffee. Here we would like to make it clear to you that you can use the amount of amaretto according to the intensity of the liquor you want.

To continue, serve the almond milk in a pot, heat the milk moderately (it cannot come to a boil) and start beating it. If you have it at home, you can use a mixer to make a good layer of foam. This will undoubtedly make the almond coffee more luxurious and creamy.

If you don’t have a hand blender at home, you can vigorously beat by hand with the sticks for a couple of minutes. Only one final detail remains, and you will have your new recipe ready for a delicious amaretto coffee but this time with a very special almond flavour.

Finally, just pour the almond milk over the coffee flavoured with the liqueur. You must be very careful with this operation and do it slowly so that the foam doesn’t go down. It’s just a static detail that gives presence and glamour to your preparation, but it’s good to keep it in mind. Everything is ready for you to decorate your tasty amaretto coffee with almond slices and serve it at the table.
