Orbegozo EX6000

It was not long ago that we reviewed the Orbegozo EX5000 model on our website, and now we have in our hands the next on the list of this Spanish company’s espresso machines. This is the Orbegozo EX6000, a machine that presents notable differences from its predecessor. While the EX5000 was a hydro-pressure coffee machine, the EX6000 is a manual espresso machine (in other words, a traditional arm coffee machine), a segment that the Orbegozo brand has never worked particularly hard on. Still, with this model, it has managed to position itself quite strongly.

This Orbegozo EX6000 has all the virtues that fit the profile of the average user. A very reasonable price, the absence of complex and advanced functions, simple operation, in short, few complications and a proposal that is easy for anyone to understand.

As we have said, this is a manually operated espresso machine. It works with a 20 bar pressure pump, has 1050 watts of power and a water tank with a capacity of 1.5 litres.

We particularly like one detail about it, and that is that the compatibility with single-dose paper bags (ESE format), already common in modern machines, is made possible by a set of three different filters: one for ESE single-dose, one for normal ground coffee espressos and one for double espressos. Most coffee makers in this price range come with a set of only two filters, the largest of which has a shared function.

Orbegozo EX6000: Maximum aroma (and minimum price)

Despite its undeniable virtues, the main attraction of the Orbegozo EX6000 is its low price. This contained budget is reflected in the control panel, where we find the classic button panel with the main on/off switch and the buttons (these are actually tactile buttons) for the main functions that this model allows us to do: prepare an espresso, prepare two espressos, or use the frother—nothing else.

On the right, if we look at the front of the coffee machine, we will find the knob to select the force we want to emit the steam to emulsify more or less quickly. Remember that you can choose between two operations when using the frother: frothing milk (steam is used) or hot water for infusions (the water reaches a lower temperature so that it does not evaporate, simply boiling water is used).

The front panel is finished with a stainless steel sheet, which gives it a curious appearance, although the overall feel and weight are a bit flimsy, not very solid.

Advantages of the Orbegozo coffee machine EX6000

  • The water tank is sufficiently large and even generous.
  • The 20 bars of pressure ensure a thick crema in our espressos, even if we are not very skilled baristas.
  • Very interesting quality-price ratio, on a par with the best sellers on the market in this type of machine.
  • Compatibility with ESE pods.

Disadvantages of the Orbegozo EX6000 coffee machine

  • It is an attractive machine in the eyes of the average consumer… but it is not very different from any other rival in its segment. Let’s say that it contributes little to a market already saturated with dozens of coffee makers of this style and of the same cut.
  • The quality of workmanship, materials and finish is simply shoddy. This is to be expected given the low cost of the machine, but that is no reason not to mention it in this section. For example, after several months of intensive use, some users have reported wear on the legends or icons on some of the push buttons.
  • According to the photos and the manufacturer’s specifications, the cup warming tray has the capacity to preheat 4 small espresso cups. But we usually use breakfast cups, which are much larger, and these will barely fit two.

How the Orbegozo EX6000 works: How it is used

You don’t need to study or read much to find out how the Orbegozo EX6000 works. You have to take the filter you are going to use (single, double or single-dose espresso), put the coffee inside, press it and fit the filter holder into the shower of the coffee machine.

Then press the corresponding button, for one or two espressos, on the machine’s control panel.

You will have to do all this once you have switched on the machine and waited for a few seconds (no more than 30 or 40) for the Thermoblock heating block to bring the water to the right temperature.

Why buy an Orbegozo EX6000? Final opinions

The final conclusion after evaluating this Orbegozo EX6000 coffee machine is not very different from the one we make every time we recommend a coffee machine of this type, which is very economical but also very simple. For most users, it is enough: if you want to make a coffee in the morning, you won’t need much more, and the savings compared to more advanced machines are obvious. However, you have to be aware that you are buying a cheap coffee machine and therefore cannot have great pretensions. And also that you can find dozens – literally – of coffee machines with similar prices and functions, although from lesser-known brands than this one.

Its main rivals or references on the market are models such as the Cecotec Power Espresso 20 or the Cafelizzia, to name but a few. In any case, you will be able to find a good number of espresso machines under £100 on the market, most of which will have the same specifications as this Orbegozo EX6000.

In short, a machine with obvious limitations but with a very low price is sure to appeal to a good number of buyers who are not going to demand too much from their everyday coffee maker.
