Welcome to our review of the Dolce Gusto Melody, one of the most popular Dolce Gusto coffee makers and certainly the one that could be considered top of the range for many years, because of its spectacular and striking design and also because of its generous capacity.
At the time of its launch, the Melody coffee maker also put on the table a series of extras that were not found in any other Dolce Gusto coffee maker, and that we will detail in the following sections of this review.
Today, of course, these features have been matched or surpassed by the latest and most advanced models of this brand. Still, at the same time, the Melody has remained a cheap Dolce Gusto coffee maker (especially in its manual version), and has therefore stood the test of time quite well.
Dolce Gusto Melody 2 vs Dolce Gusto Melody 3
For many years now, the model of this coffee maker has been the Melody 3. But before the arrival of the third generation Dolce Gusto Melody, the one that existed was the Melody 2.
But before the arrival of the third generation of the Dolce Gusto Melody, the one that existed was the Melody 2. And you can still find several copies of the latter in stock in many shops, so it is essential to know the differences – especially the aesthetic ones – between the two models, so as not to get confused.
The Dolce Gusto Melody 3 is a superior version of the Melody 2, which, among other differences, only had 14 bars of pressure (not the 15 that all Dolce Gusto coffee makers have today).
Here you can see and compare both versions of the Dolce Gusto Melody coffee maker, the current one and the old one:
Dolce Gusto Creativa
No, we didn’t get the name wrong. In some markets (especially in America), this coffee maker is known as Dolce Gusto Melody Creativa, or simply Dolce Gusto Creativa.
And it turns out that, although its design is very similar, the Dolce Gusto Creativa coffee maker is not the same as the Melody. The main difference is that it has an LCD screen on the front, which serves as a display for a busy menu of automatic options, and that this model is very similar to the super-automatic espresso machines. You’ll understand this better when you watch this video:
Dolce Gusto Melody Coffee Machine: Main Features
As with the Circolo, the Dolce Gusto Melody coffee maker is available in a manual or automatic version. The difference in price between the two is almost none, and in our opinion compensates for the convenience of not having to wait until the preparation of our coffee is finished, and of being sure that our drink will have a right point.
As always, here we offer you the best purchase links so that you can decide for yourself which version you prefer, and in which colours. Keep in mind that some of the options you will find here at Amazon correspond to models that have already been discontinued and cannot be obtained by any other means so take advantage of this opportunity!
The main feature of the Dolce Gusto Melody is undoubtedly its capsule holder tank, which is incorporated in the back. Thanks to this, you will always have your Dolce Gusto capsules at hand.
The water tank has a capacity of 1.3 litres (the same as the Circolo), and the functions are identical to those of the other Dolce Gusto machines. The 15 bar mentioned above pressure to ensure that our drinks are always full of cream, the height-adjustable drip tray, the exclusive Thermoblock system that allows you to heat the preparations in just a few seconds and the efficient automatic switch-off system to save energy. The machine switches itself off after five minutes of non-use.
The dimensions of the Dolce Gusto Melody coffee machine are 30.6 x 20 x 31.5 cm. It’s bulky, mainly because it has a lot of bottom (the capsule holder must have some drawbacks), so bear this in mind and find a suitable place for it in your kitchen before using it.
✓ Advantages of the Dolce Gusto Melody
- The design. There is no doubt that its shape of an insect? Invertebrate? Bug? Is a plus if we want our coffee maker, apart from preparing exquisite drinks, to be also a decorative object that brings a happy point to our home.
- The 1.3-litre water tank allows you to make 7 or 8 coffees without having to refill it. It is one of the largest in Dolce Gusto.
- Of course the capsule holder, which allows us to have our favourite capsules at hand and not depend on having a closet nearby or acquiring a similar device separately.
X Disadvantages of the Dolce Gusto Melody
- The spaciousness of its tanks has a bright counterbalance: the Dolce Gusto Melody is a large coffee maker. Go to find the right place for it in your kitchen! Especially the capsule holder makes it take up a lot of space.
- Its price: in the Dolce Gusto range there are cheaper options, and the coffee, let’s not forget, is the same in all the machines.
Dolce Gusto Melody Coffee Machine: How it works
Do you want to see it in action before you buy a Dolce Gusto Melody? Do you find it challenging to get to the nearest store or shopping centre? Then relax because you’ve just arrived at the right place.

Why Buy a Dolce Gusto Melody?
Well, with this model it’s like with the Circolo. The extras, and the design, must be paid for. You have other options for cheaper Dolce Gusto coffee makers, and you will enjoy the coffee just the same it depends on what everyone wants to scratch their pockets. In our opinion, it’s worth it, especially if you buy it through one of the Amazon offers included in this article. But the decision is yours.
Bear in mind that this is an old coffee maker, and its price has been reduced and adjusted as more recent models of Dolce Gusto coffee makers have appeared on the market.
