Bosch VeroCafe Latte

Name: VeroCafe Latte
Brand: Bosch
Type: Espresso
Operation: Automatic
Capacity: 1.7 litres

The biggest Bosch bet in the segment of super-automatic coffee machines is this Bosch VeroCafe Latte (we can also find it with the nomenclature TES 50351 or TES 50129, which are the most common models).

It is a coffee maker that is focused on a demanding consumer, with a multitude of exclusive features of high-end espressos and with a truly exclusive exterior feel (design, bodywork, materials, finishes).

Suffice it to say, for example, that the housing of the Bosch VeroCafe Latte has a ceramic coating or that all the large elements – water tank, coffee group, trays – are designed to be separated and handled separately from the coffee machine. It is very useful, for example, when cleaning.

As you can see from the picture, the Bosch VeroCafe Latte has a compact, solid design in three basic colours: black, silver and dark brown. All of them have a peculiar and characteristic touch, thanks to the mentioned ceramic coating.

All the controls of the coffee machine are located on the left side column. The water tank, with a capacity of 1.7 litres, is located at the rear of the Bosch VeroCafe Latte and can be removed by pulling it up. And the coffee maker comes with an additional milk tank (included but handled separately) so that it can be stored fresh in the fridge and removed only when used with our Bosch VeroCafe Latte frother.

In addition, the milk frothing tube has two pre-set configurations (for latte or cappuccino) that are activated by turning a small chrome button on the accessory handle itself. You can see it in the inside picture.

VeroCafe Latte: The jewel of Bosch automatics

Speaking of the control panel, its operation is fundamentally directed by two rotary controls – arranged vertically – and a digital display where we see continuous information on what is happening inside the coffee machine or what the next action expected of us is. Of course, we can configure it in several languages.

The upper rotary control serves to determine the size – a quantity of coffee – of our extraction, as well as to regulate the hot water service. You can choose to prepare one or two cups of coffee, and in each case, different volumes (from longer to shorter). This way, with the Bosch VeroCafe Latte, we can make two short espressos, one very long coffee, two medium cups, whatever we want.

On the other hand, with the lower control, we determine the intensity of the extraction (lighter or stronger coffee). If you look at the pictures, you’ll see that we can choose from a total of five predetermined levels, although the last one (extra strong) is reserved for double extractions.

Below the rotary controls are the operating buttons of the coffee maker: the on/off switch and the buttons that control the foaming tube operation.

In terms of functionality, the Bosch VeroCafe Latte includes all the premium features we expect in an automatic espresso machine of this calibre. It means, for example, that the grinder is fitted with ceramic grinding wheels instead of traditional steel ones (ceramic ones have less risk of overheating and are more durable) and that it has a storage capacity of 300 grams of coffee beans (above average).

Or that the options for personalization of each coffee are extended to the selection of temperature or the programming of the level of water hardness. Or that the coffee maker’s tank is compatible with Brita water filters, which guarantee greater resistance to the feared calcification. Or we could go on to infinity.

Talking about the raw material – coffee – we must mention the detail, always appreciated, of including an additional entry so that we can use ground coffee directly, instead of always depending on the coffee beans. Using pre-grinded coffee can help us, for example, to extract decaffeinated coffee or to play with different varieties of coffee. We show you this entry in the following picture:

And before we go on to list the technical specifications – long live God – of this Bosch VeroCafe Latte, let’s take a brief look at the various models and variants currently on the market:

Bosch VeroCafe Latte: Color range

The Bosch VeroCafe Latte is available in three different colours, all of which are very sober and help to reinforce the elegant and attractive image of this machine. Here are the direct purchase links for each of them:

Bosch VeroCafe Latte Pro

For those who are not satisfied with just what we have seen so far, Bosch makes an advanced model of this same coffee machine called the VeroCafe Latte Pro. The differences of this “Pro” version compared to the standard VeroCafe Latte are mainly.

  • The chrome finish.
  • The milk frother is more powerful – more professional, if you like – and is stored in a hidden compartment inside the coffee spout. In the regular VeroCafe, the milk frother is smaller and is visible at all times. Check it by comparing the following picture (front of a VeroCafe Latte Pro) with the first one (front of a regular VeroCafe Latte).
bosch verocafe latte6
  • In addition, the size selector knob also contains new features: the VeroCafe Latte Pro allows us to choose the size of our cappuccino or latte macchiato automatically and with the right proportions of both milk and coffee. In other words: we can select a large cappuccino, a small latte macchiato, normal cappuccino the possibilities are endless.
  • In the normal version of the coffee maker, we can obtain the same result, obviously, but we have to apply the quantities of coffee and milk manually.

In conclusion: the main advantages of the VeroCafe Latte Pro over the basic model come from the milk frother accessory. Keep this in mind when deciding which of the two versions you are going to buy.

NOTE: The VeroCafe Latte Pro model corresponds to the TES 50621 nomenclature, which is higher than that of the standard model.

Bosch VeroCafe Latte: Some videos

It is a home video -but with great image quality- where we can see a demonstration of use preparing a latte macchiato.

Why buy a Bosch VeroCafe Latte?

After reading the complete analysis, you will have come to the conclusion that both the VeroCafe Latte and the more advanced VeroCafe Latte Pro are coffee machines whose investment will be used especially by regular consumers of cappuccinos, lattes, and milk froth drinks in general. A very good option in a high range of automatic coffee machines (from £500 upwards). Its prestige, of course, is not accidental.

We recommend it if you enjoy making cappuccinos and controlling the whole process related to the vaporization of milk foam.

In the chapter on alternatives, we can recommend the Jura Impressa C60, the Saeco Incanto or the Melitta Caffeo Gourmet. All of them emphasize, like our VeroCafe Latte, the preparation of cappuccinos and handmade lattes without leaving the kitchen.
