The clichés of German efficiency, guarantees and the robustness of Teutonic firms are 100% fulfilled when we take a look at WMF. This company, based in the small town of Geislingen a der Steige (in southern Germany) and founded in 1853 (19th century, no less), is a real giant that brings together several brands and works in all coffee sectors: from coffee machines for the hotel industry to domestic coffee machines.
It currently has over 6000 employees in its ranks and markets its products in over 40 countries around the world.
Stainless steel is the hallmark of WMF coffee machines and of all the articles made by this company. All are built or finished with this material, and logically their finishes and designs (which bear the imprint of artists of the highest European prestige) are cared for to the maximum.
These are not affordable or economic products, that is clear. But, if you want to take home the best of the market or give someone a good gift, with WMF, you have guaranteed success.
All WMF household items are grouped into a specific “product line“. For example, we have the Lineo, Lono and Genio ranges, to name but a few. And within these ranges, there are plenty of items for the kitchen and the table: The Lineo coffee machine, the Lineo toaster, the WMF Lineo blender, the Lineo grinder, and so on.
WMF tea sets and cutlery sets are very popular, but we will, of course, focus on the coffee machines, which is what we are concerned with.
Buy WMF coffee machines – Prices and all models
We already know that WMF is a high-end brand with high-quality products. Don’t expect to find cheap coffee machines here. However, there is another fundamental characteristic that we should know before buying a WMF coffee machine: there are machines of all types and for all needs.
It is practically the only brand on the European market that is able to include “good” coffee machines in its catalogue in all segments. A single dose, an espresso machine, a traditional Italian coffee machine, an electric coffee machine, filter coffee machines with or without a thermal carafe, piston coffee machines – everything!
So take a seat and make yourself comfortable because the list of WMF coffee machines is really long. Here you can find all of them with their prices and offers completely up to date:
Lumero and Stelio are the main or most successful models of this prestigious brand. And now that you have seen them all, let’s get to know them in greater detail and discover what options we have in each segment.
WMF 1000 Pro S Barista
We start with the most recognisable and popular model in WMF’s line of professional coffee machines. The 1000 Pro S. In fact, it could fit perfectly into our guide to professional coffee machines for your home. It is a model with a spectacular floor plan, huge dimensions, and prohibitive price, of course.
This WMF automatic coffee machine is made of stainless steel, has a capacity of 1 litre and 2300 watts. It allows us to make a wide range of drinks at the touch of a button, such as ristrettos, cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, etc. It is a fully automatic coffee machine, quite silent thanks to the exclusive WMF Silence system.
The WMF 1000 Pro S Barista allows us to make one or two cups simultaneously of each preparation, includes a heating space to preheat the cups before serving (not on top of the coffee machine, as is the case with most models, but next to the serving tray) and has the 100% removable coffee group for easy cleaning or rinsing.
We can classify it as a super-coffee machine without fear of making a mistake. Integrated grinder, minimalist control panel, perfect finishes, the list of its advantages and features is practically endless. Still, it also has some important drawbacks: apart from its price, it is a piece of enormous dimensions and weighs almost 20 kilos.
If you want to install it in your home, think carefully about where you are going to put it. And, of course, don’t even think about moving it from one place to another.
WMF Lumero: The high-end express
From 2019 onwards, the Lumero line became very important in the sales lists, especially thanks to its express version: the WMF Lumero Espresso Machine. It is a top-of-the-range armoured coffee machine with a 1.5-litre tank and is virtually indestructible thanks to the brand’s exclusive Cromargan stainless steel body, which no other coffee machine in the world has.
There are two other machines in the Lumero line on the market: the WMF Lumero drip coffee machines. However, they hardly have any market share, especially because of their price.
WMF Italian coffee machines: The Kult for induction
As far as Italian coffee machines are concerned, WMF does not meet the much-appreciated standard of “cheap and functional”. It must be acknowledged that not everyone wants to spend the money that a copy of this prestigious firm costs on a mocha.
There are several options:
On the one hand, there is the excellent, although now discontinued, Barista model, and on the other hand, the more modern – and most recommendable – WMF Kult for induction. There is also a magnificent electric coffee machine in the German catalogue, but we will talk about this later in a separate section.
Like the rest of the company’s articles, the Italian WMF Kult coffee machine is made of 100% Cromargan stainless steel -with a matte finish- and this makes it suitable for all types of kitchens, including induction kitchens. Its base is wide, which facilitates heat transmission from the plate. It is also one of the few induction coffee machines that allow you to clean the upper inner side comfortably.
Its dimensions are 11 cm in diameter and 13 cm in height, and it weighs just over a kilogram.
In short, if you’re looking for a medium to large induction coffee machine, there are few better options than this WMF Kult. That is, as long as it fits your budget. The main drawback is that it is only available in this size (for 6 cups).
WMF electric coffee machine
This model belongs to the KitchenMinis line and is at the top of the increasingly popular category of electric Moka coffee machines. It has a reduced capacity (for 2-4 cups at most), but its finishes, as is the norm in the house, are impeccable. It is made entirely of the famous high-quality Cromargan steel. And when we say “completely”, we mean that all its components, including the filter, are made of this excellent material.
Perhaps, as the only point against it, we can mention the impossibility of acquiring it in other larger sizes.
These are some of its main characteristics:
- Italian coffee machine of 0.5 litres (maximum 4 cups).
- Electric base, independent from the moka (adjustable 360º).
- On/off indicator lights.
- Energy-saving: the coffee machine switches off automatically after finishing the coffee preparation.
- Water level indicator inside the coffee machine.
- Storage compartment for excess cable.
- Power: 400 Watt.
- Dimensions: 11 x 11 x 19 cm.
- Weight: less than 900 grams.
Due to its high price, we only recommend the WMF KitchenMinis electric coffee machine to users who really care and pamper their espresso with this type of coffee machine. And, of course, who use it daily (or better still, several times a day).
WMF filter coffee machines
Drip coffee machines are one of the segments where WMF gives its best. The options are very diverse, always of excellent quality, and there are both thermal and glass carafes, instant or programmable.
Among the WMF thermal coffee machines, we highlight the WMF Lono, very compact and with a capacity of 1.25 litres. There is also this same model with a glass carafe. It has an automatic decalcification program, a 180º folding filter and the water tank -with a filler visor- is transparent. The thermal jug is made of Cromargan steel (maximum quality).
If you want to go one step further, you can choose the programmable WMF coffee machines. These are digital coffee machines that have a timer; therefore, we can program their start-up up to 24 hours in advance. The Lineo model has all these features, plus a 1.25-litre tank and the familiar thermal carafe.
Are you looking for something a little simpler? A filter coffee machine with a glass carafe like you’ve always wanted? Then we recommend the WMF Genio, WMF Stelio Aroma and Aroma Terra models. Much cheaper than those mentioned above.
Piston coffee machines WMF
The French press sector (also called piston presses) is not usually given to high prices. Their buyers are not used to them, and moreover, the simplicity of their components – in the total absence of technology – make them into coffee machines where “top-of-the-range” is more a whim than a necessity.
In any case, if you are looking for one of the best piston coffee machines on the market, you can read the WMF Kult review. It is a French WMF press with a very clean and elegant design, designed by Sebastien Bergne, which seems to have been conceived to enhance the presence of 18/10 Cromargan stainless steel.
We dare to assure you that this is the plunger coffee machine with the best materials and finishes that can be bought at the moment.
We recommend it if you use your piston coffee machine very often (stainless steel will help you to prolong its life) or if you are looking for a French press for 8 cups.
WMF single-dose coffee maker
The WMF Lono pod coffee machine adds to the single-dose trend and is positioned directly as one of the most luxurious options in this booming market. It’s no wonder that it’s difficult to find a single-dose coffee machine that matches the materials and external quality of this WMF Lono.
Apart from its robust and strong presence, we highlight in this WMF single-dose coffee maker the adaptable filter for one or two single-dose cups (that is, we can prepare two cups simultaneously if we want).
It also has a hot water outlet for making infusions, and the exclusive WMF Perfect Cream system, which allows us to enjoy a thick layer of cream crowning our espressos. Its dimensions are 26 x 15 x 29 cm.
What more could we ask for? It is silent (maximum 60 decibels), has 1600 watts of power, a removable water tank of 0.8 litres, turns off automatically when finished, in short, an excellent alternative to the well-known Senseo coffee machines.
WMF coffee machine for Cold Brew
Don’t you know what the Cold Brew is? Then it takes a while to read the guide we have just linked to you. If you are already familiar with the Cold Brew technique (or making cold coffee) and need to buy a Cold Brew machine ex-profeso for this purpose, then you will be delighted that a high-quality firm such as WMF has opted for it.
The WMF coffee maker for Cold Brew is made of glass and silver, with a very attractive design (as is the norm). Its dimensions are 20 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height. It is dishwasher safe and fits perfectly into a side tray of your fridge (an important detail if you want to enjoy your Cold Brew coffee really cold).
The system is really practical and ingenious, as the actual Cold Brew filter is inserted into the glass carafe. As the minutes go by, when the water is filtered – and therefore turned into cold coffee – it goes into the glass carafe, which serves both as a container and as a service recipient.
Why buy a WMF coffee machine?
If you’ve come this far and didn’t know about the benefits of WMF coffee machines before, you’ll have an idea of the values of this brand. These are top-of-the-range machines, made with the best materials and with the finest finishes.
The coffee machines that have some technology or electrical component are at the forefront of the sector, and they work like a charm. Those that do not use electricity (such as Italian or piston machines) are designed to last as long as possible.
If you want to take home the best in the segment of coffee machines you prefer or need to give someone an important gift, you should follow the developments of this German firm closely.
But keep in mind that a world-renowned designer or artist signs most WMF coffee machines, and this affects the price almost as much as the stainless steel Cromargan.
