Severin is a German manufacturer of small household appliances, based in the German town of Sundern and which has achieved a notable prestige in Central Europe, thanks in large part to its specialization in very specific product lines.
In the subject that concerns us, for example, Severin presents a very wide range of domestic coffee machines, with numerous references in very diverse segments: espresso machines, automatic coffee machines, drip coffee machines, we will talk about them later. But where it is most popular is undoubtedly in the field of frothers or milk beaters.
Severin milk frothers are the undisputed leaders in the market, both in terms of quality and options and variety. You can read the extensive article we have just linked above, to get to know them all.
Severin is a company with a very long history on the international scene. It was founded in 1892 by Anton Severin, and at that time it was no more than a small blacksmith’s business. It was not until the middle of the last 20th century that Severin began to manufacture and commercialize everyday appliances, with notable success. So much so that today Severin manufactures and distributes more than 200 different products: from coffee makers to kettles, including toasters, kettles, vacuum cleaners, kitchenware, barbecues, yoghurt makers, practically every element that we can find in a house is susceptible to bear the signature of the German Severin.
At present, the Severin company has more than 2500 employees distributed in its headquarters and factories all over the world. It is present in more than 80 countries, and the main factories are located in Sundern (Germany) and China. The latter has been operating since 1995. That’s why it shouldn’t surprise you if you buy a Severin coffee machine (or any other of the company’s appliances) and you read the famous Made in China slogan on its base.

Severin espresso coffee machines
Severin offers a wide range of express coffee machines. All of them have 15 bars of pressure and are compatible with the ESE single-dose bags. All of them could be included in a medium range of espresso machines, without any model that could be considered high-end, nor excessively basic or cheap coffee machines. However: within the medium range, there are also ranges and distinctions.
Its main exponent is, without a doubt, the Severin KA 5990, a coffee maker with a capacity of more than 2 litres and built-in stainless steel. The KA 5991, on the other hand, has a plastic casing finished in bright colours (bright blue, green and pink), does not have a steamer and is the most economical option within Severin’s mid-range. It is around 100 pounds. Of similar characteristics to the latter, although with a more sober appearance and with a vaporizer tube included, it is the Severin 5987 model.
It is easy to differentiate them, isn’t it?

Severin automatic coffee machines
The Severin S2+ One Touch (that is its full name) is perhaps the company’s flagship. It presents a very innovative and current design, which bets on attracting the youngest public interested in acquiring its first automatic coffee machine. It is a real One Touch coffee maker, which allows us to prepare any drink (including cappuccinos, lattes and other milk-based preparations) automatically: by pressing a single button on the control panel.
The Piccola, on the other hand, is a more modest automatic coffee machine, with a smaller capacity and naturally also a little cheaper. It is sold in two versions (the Semplice and the Premium), and automatic cappuccino preparation is only possible in the second of these.
In general, it is a less demanding coffee machine than the splendid S2+. It is ideal for those who want to enjoy all the advantages of a good automatic espresso machine, without breaking their budget.
