Today we are going to talk about a manufacturer that is not very well known. It is the Dutch firm Bonamat, or Bravilor Bonamat. Bonamat coffee machines are professional filter coffee machines, which is exactly why the general public does not know them: Bravilor coffee machines are designed for offices, workplaces, restaurants or small cafés. Because in Central Europe (where this brand comes from), filter coffee is still much more appreciated. This has to be taken into account.
If someone is looking for a coffee machine for the hotel and catering industry, they will opt for an espresso machine (Expobar type or similar). If someone wants to buy a high-end filter coffee maker, there are options on the market much more suitable for home use—large filter coffee machines for professional use that are not usually used.
This is, therefore, a brand of coffee machines with a very particular offer. Let’s get to know it better:
Bravilor (or Bravilor Bonamat, which is what this company is really called) was founded in the mid-20th century. In other words, it can boast a very long history, even though it is not a very well known company in the coffee sector. Why? Because its coffee machine production is centred on filter coffee machines for the hotel and catering industry, and these are a type of maker that is not usually used. In cafés and workplaces, the espresso machine segment is much more popular.
Even so, the quality of their machines is so high that we are obliged to give Bravilor coffee machines a place on our pages. Bravilor Bonamat is based and has its main factories in the Netherlands but has branches and offices throughout Europe and the United States.
Finally, we should also remember that although here we are only talking about Bonamat coffee machines, the company also sells water dispensers, vending machines and other similar articles for making drinks, which are always more oriented towards the commercial sector than the home one.
Comparison of Bonamat coffee machines
Before we start to analyse in detail the different Bravilor Bonamat coffee machines, let’s take a look at this comparative table where we can see their current price and their essential qualities.
Bravilor Bonamat F454 Novo
Okay, it’s expensive for a “simple” filter coffee maker (although simple really has little, as we’ll see below). Still, if you want to buy a Bonamat coffee maker online, this is the most affordable option you’ll find.
The Bravilor Bonamat F454 Novo is one of the few models of this Dutch brand that is conceived halfway between professional and home use. We think it is the best option to buy a Bravilor coffee machine for home.
The Bravilor Bonamat Novo coffee machine has only one group of coffee but two plates to keep the carafe warm (the first big difference with conventional filter coffee makers). The carafe has a capacity of 1.7 litres and has to be filled manually. Its dimensions are 21 x 39 x 42 cms. The main body of the Bonamat Novo coffee machine is made of plastic, although it has various metal finishes that give a touch of distinction and quality to the product.
Bravilor Bonamat Mondo and Matic
If you look at them from the outside, the Bonamat Mondo and Matic coffee machines are identical. But the difference is substantial: those in the Matic series can be connected to a water outlet (ideal for business) while the Bonamat Mondo cannot: their tank must be refilled in an old-fashioned way, by hand.
Let’s list the essential features of the Bravilor Bonamat Mondo 2, although you know that for the Bonamat Matic, they are the same. The body is made of stainless steel; it has two glass jars (instead of just one, as in normal filter coffee makers) and is capable of brewing up to 18 litres of coffee in an hour.
It retains the two heating bases so that you can make two complete coffee pots in a row and prevent the first one from getting cold before serving it. The dimensions of the Bonamat Mondo 2 coffee machine are 19 x 41 x 45 cms.
Here you can see both versions, face to face:
Both series of coffee machines, the Bonamat Mondo and the Bravilor Bonamat Matic, are marketed in a version for coffee shops, with two groups of coffee. You will find them later on in the section dedicated to the Bravilor Bonamat professional coffee machines.
Bravilor Bonamat ISO
The main quality of the Bravilor Bonamat ISO series is that it is not used with a conventional glass decanter but with a thermal steel decanter that preserves the quality and temperature of freshly brewed coffee much better. Without a doubt, this is a coffee maker specially designed for consumers who appreciate and love filter coffee.
The Bonamat ISO coffee machine is slightly larger than the rest (2 litres capacity in the water tank). It is capable of making up to 18 litres in an hour (like the previous ones), and its dimensions are 21 x 39 x 46 cms. It cannot be connected to a water supply, so you will have to fill it manually, as it has been done all your life.
Bonamat Professional Coffee machines
We have already said that the professional area is the strong point of this brand. The Bonamat coffee machines for the hotel and catering industry are called RLX, and among them, we can highlight the Bonamat RLX 131 and RLX 585 as the most powerful models. The latter is a monster filter machine, completely modular and consists of three bodies: two coffee containers and one for hot water.
Apart from these Bravilor Bonamat RLX models (which are very large modular filter coffee machines), we must also include the Twin models of the Mondo and Matic series in the Bravilor Bonamat coffee machines for the hotel and catering industry. They are called Bonamat Mondo Twin and Matic Twin, respectively.
Is it worth buying a Bonamat coffee machine?
Well, if you have a coffee shop and you want to offer the best filter coffee to your customers, without a doubt, yes. It’s a big investment, but the quality is assured. However, we are aware that in the hotel and catering business (or in large workplaces), preferences go more towards espresso machines.
On the other hand, if your intention is to buy a Bonamat coffee maker for your home, we do not recommend it. Even the most affordable models are expensive, and for less than the cost of a Bonamat home coffee machine, you can get some of the best filter coffee makers on the market, such as the Melitta Aroma Elegance, the Philips Grind&Brew, or the KitchenAid Drip, to name a few.
