KitchenAid is a manufacturer of electrical appliances that, through its Artisan product line, brings us this electric coffee grinder KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100. As we say, it is an electric coffee grinder, of high range, and with some characteristics that differentiate it enough from the rest of the grinders of the market.

As for the external appearance, the KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 is quite original: it has a design with rounded lines, casual colours, perhaps a little more voluminous than other domestic grinders.

It has an on/off switch on the right-hand side, and the ground coffee container is much larger than usual (it is the same size as the hopper container). Normally you will not fill it unless you don’t mind storing your ground coffee there for a long time (this is not usually done by many users due to the loss of aromas and nuances, the grace of coffee is precise that it is freshly ground).

This KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 has 15 grinding grades, which are selected via the large black rotary wheel on the front (under the hopper but above the ground coffee tank). Operation is thus quite simple, as we will not find any complicated or unwieldy options in this grinder.

Overall, we find the KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 grinder quite attractive to have in the kitchen (a quality which is usually more suited to coffee machines than grinders), although in some cases, it may be too large.

KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100: colour range

One of the major differences of the KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 grinder compared to other grinders on the market is that it is available in different colours, as is the case with modern coffee machines, for example.

KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100: main features

  • It weighs about 4.5 kilograms.
  • Its approximate dimensions are 26x15x34 cms.
  • The motor works at 185 watts of power.
  • The grinder has 15 levels of grinding, from the finest grinding for espressos to the thickest for the French press or piston coffee makers.
  • The hopper has a capacity of 241 grams of coffee beans.
  • Metal grinders with a diameter of 5.7 centimetres.
  • The grinding wheels work at low revolutions to avoid the risk of overheating and to preserve the aromas of the coffee beans intact.

Advantages of the KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 grinder

  • The grinding wheels (5.7 centimetres in diameter) are slightly larger than usual and this helps the heat to dissipate more easily.
  • Its casual appearance and variety in the range of colours clearly differentiates it from other grinders on the market, which are much more serious.
  • The motor is quite powerful for the average in the sector: 185 watts.

Disadvantages of the KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 grinder

  • Its size. It is a rather bulky grinder compared to others, and in our kitchen we also have to make room for the coffee machine. The depth of the grinder is particularly striking, not so much the height or width.
  • In the ground coffee tank we miss a dispenser so that we can pour the freshly ground coffee directly into the filter of our coffee machine or wherever we need it.

Why buy a KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 grinder?

In our opinion, this KitchenAid Artisan 5KCG100 grinder certainly meets any expectations. Still, we believe it is in a somewhat higher price range than other competitors such as the Graef CM800 or the DeMoka GR0203. So, very good electric grinder for home (as long as you don’t have space problems in your kitchen), but maybe a bit expensive if we look at the features offered by other competitors.
