Coffee Stirrers

Coffee Stirrers are the disposable substitute for the spoons we use at home or in coffee shops. We have all seen and used them at some time, especially in hotels or at work, right? They are small, disposable, single-use sticks or Stirrers that are only used to stir the coffee when sugar or milk is added.

Coffee Stirrers must have a number of non-negotiable characteristics:

  • They are not as long as a teaspoon, as they are often used in disposable cups or small coffee glasses. Coffee stirrers can vary between 90 and 105 millimetres in length. Each size and shape of the stirrer is designed for a specific type of cup or glass, so we advise you not to buy them blindly, and to stop for a moment and think first about which containers your stirrers will be used in!
  • They must be inevitably flat, or at least have a flat end so that they can perform their function of stirring or mixing coffee correctly. If they were completely round, they would not be suitable for stirring coffee.
  • They are very economical, and as they are disposable coffee stirrers they are always sold in packs of many units. In the galleries below you can see sets of up to 1000 units. Packs of 1500 or up to 5000 coffee stirrers are also available, but this option is already more difficult to find.

Where are the coffee stirring sticks used? Usually in large centres with many users, offices, community coffee makers, buffets or travel/travel. That is: in any situation where it is not possible or profitable to use steel cutlery that needs to be washed after use.

Its price per unit is logically very low and decreases as we buy larger packs. Variations are worked out at a level of tenths of a cent per shaker, so there is a lot of tuning up to be done. That is: we can find a lot of prices in the range of 1 to 2 cents per unit.

When buying coffee stirrers, we can find two types of materials (wood and plastic) and two essential formats: individually wrapped or all loose. All are very recognisable. For example, this is the basic aspect that plastic ones offer:

Where to buy coffee stirrers?

To answer this question, we have several options. The first one is to go to your usual hotel and catering supplier, because if you often buy other consumables then they will usually have them in the catalogue as well, and it will always be more convenient to buy everything together.

Another solution is to buy coffee stirrers from Amazon. Here you have the advantage that you can access more manufacturers and a wider variety of models and packs of different sizes. If you spend some time looking, you can save a lot of money.

Wooden coffee stirrers

Wooden coffee stirrers come in various shapes, although the most common are coffee stirring paddles (round handle and wide end in the shape of a paddle or oar) or the classic ice cream stick shape.

The main advantage of wooden coffee stirrers is that they can be biodegradable and compostable. They are much more ecological and contribute to more sustainable development than if we opt for plastic.

Birchwood or bamboo coffee stirrers are some of the most widely marketed.

In terms of price, there are normally no appreciable variations between wooden and plastic coffee stirrers. But, as always, we invite you to compare on your own to make sure.

Plastic coffee stirrers

The plastic coffee stirring paddles can be white or transparent. There is no functional difference between the two options, and they are the preferred alternative to the coffee vending machines we see in large social centres, offices, etc. Available in packs of 100 or 1000 units, as shown below:

On the other side of the scale, it is clear that if you are looking for biodegradable coffee stirrers, these plastic ones are not the most optimal solution.
